Mass Storage Removal
To replace a mass storage device, shut down the system, remove power, remove the system cover, refer to the figure and perform the procedures for:
Front-accessible drives
Internal drives
- Remove the front bezel:
| A. | Push the two tabs at the top toward the center. |
| B. | Gently pull the top of the bezel approximately 1-inch away from the chassis. |
| C. | Pull up on the bezel to unhook the bottom mounts. |
- Disconnect the power and data cables from the drive.
- Refer to the figure and remove the two mounting screws (4).
- Slide the drive (1) out of the bay.
- Take off the side rail (2) by removing the two screws (3).
- Install the side rail on the replacement drive. If you are putting a 3.5-inch drive into one of the 5.25-inch bays, attach expansion brackets to the drive.
- Refer to the drive's documentation and set the drive jumpers/switches (drive 0 or drive 1 for IDE drives, SCSI ID for SCSI drives).
- Reverse the steps above to complete the drive replacement.
- Refer to the figure and remove the two screws (1) from the internal bay cage (2).
- Carefully swing the cage outward and lift it out of the chassis. Take care not to damage the attached cables.
- Disconnect the power and data cables from the drive.
- Refer to the figure and remove the four mounting screws.
- Slide the drive out of the bay cage.
- Refer to the drive's documentation and set the drive jumpers/switches
(drive 0 or drive 1 for IDE drives, SCSI ID for SCSI drives).
- Reverse the steps above to complete the drive replacement.
